Ministry Monday-October 8th

I'm sure it's all over the news networks by now but, if you haven't heard, I've recently become a columnist for CatholicMom.com. Catholic Mom is one of the top of Catholic websites both in content and readership.  However, there are people who don't know about it.  Therefore, in the spirit of Ministry Monday, I wanted to highlight Catholic Mom and the amazing ministry they share with the blogosphere.

  • Catholic Mom (CM) was begun by Lisa Hendey, Catholic mom extraordinaire.  Lisa began CM to fill a need she had to connect with other Catholic mothers.  What started as a small endeavor now has grown to include many features including Mass activity sheets for children, podcasts, columns, daily prayers as well as the new Catholic Mom book imprint by Ave Maria Press.   Along the way, Lisa has helped to springboard the careers of many Catholic authors and bloggers.  So, if you haven't checked out CatholicMom.com, what are you waiting for?

  • Another ministry that has been a huge influence in my own personal ministry is the Catholic Writer's GuildGreen 4 God would still just be an idea in my head if it weren't for the support, encouragement, and education I've received from the Guild and it's members.  Here's what the Guild says about itself:
The Catholic Writers Guild is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of faithful Catholic writers, artists, editors, illustrators, and allies headquartered in Indianapolis. Our mission is to help build a vibrant Catholic literary culture by offering educational programs that encourage Catholic spiritual growth, teach Catholic writers about their craft as well as how to sell and market their work.

Here's what I say about the Guild: "The Catholic Writers Guild is a group of wonderfully spiritual, talented and generous individuals that genuinely want to see you succeed in your writing projects.  They are always willing to take the time to explain the writing, publishing and marketing aspects of the writing process.  And they're fun people too!"

So, if you know a Catholic writer, illustrator, editor or publisher; tell them about the Guild.  Who knows?  You may be responsible for the discovery of a Catholic JK Rowling!

Blessings,
Laura
